Chicken Apple Waffles – AIP, Paleo, Whole30
Chicken + Apple + Waffles + Paleo AIP
= Who cares if it’s for breakfast, lunch, snack time or dinner. We eat waffles whenever we want.
Especially when they are as as nutritious as these bad boys.
Jump to RecipeThese chicken waffles are like having your meat cake and eating it too.
(Whaa?) Except it’s not meat cake.
They be meat waffles. (OK. I see where she was going with that now.)
You can enjoy these chicken waffles savory or sweet.
Savory: Slather with this AIP, keto & Whole30 No-Mess No-Egg Mayo, then top with sliced raw veggies or these AIP Raw & Easy Pickles, and maybe even some of this thinly sliced AIP, keto & Whole30 Uncured Deli-Brined Chicken.
Sweet: Try them with some sliced pears, diced apples, or compliant applesauce on top!
These are perfect for both the paleo autoimmune protocol and for your Whole30. (If you’re on Whole30 and finding the syrup photos triggering…QUICK! EMERGENCY! Click below to jump to the recipe!) (Whew. That was close.)
Mix. Iron. Save some for later (maybe).
Here’s the ceramic waffle iron I use at home. I LOVE it. It’s my non-stick pride and joy. It gets the fine treatment with a silicone brush for greasing, then after it cools…a gentle spray down after cooking. Then I let it air dry on my dish mat. Bada-bing. Fabulous, mate.
Using a meat chopper tool while you mix up the meat mixture (that sounds weird when you say it out loud) helps a treat, because meat under the fingernails feels NAS-TAYYY.
I highly suggest doubling (tripling?) the batch and stashing the extras in your freezer for when the hangries take over.
Or for the nights you get home from a long day and you don’t have any feels at all for cooking and cleaning up. Let’s not forget snacks, yo, because these end up costing much less than packaged convenience foods.
You pretty much can’t ever go wrong with your own homemade frozen chicken waffles ready to pop in the toaster oven or cast-iron skillet to reheat. Though if you are simply making a single batch, these will last in the fridge for about 5 days if for some odd reason they don’t get gobbled up on the first day. Hide yo snacks, hide yo chicken apple waffles.
Free of all the things.
Not only coconut free, but also nut free, egg free, and guilt-free.
But, SRSLY, don’t feel guilty about eating. Like, ever. Food good. Food NOURISHING. Paleo is the bee’s knees.
Just try to eat lots of yummy vegetables, and save room for these coconut-free AIP Fudgecake Brownies.

Got an Instant Pot and need a little Whole30-esque compliant reset? Or are you on the AIP and you’ve introduced seeds, green beans and peas?

Chicken Apple Waffles
Ingredients
- 1.3 lb ground chicken or turkey (look for about 85% fat so that they come out juicy and not dry)
- 3 large cloves garlic pressed
- 3 green onions minced (plus more for topping if desired)
- 4 oz applesauce (see links in NOTES for AIP-compliant, corn-free applesauce)
- 1 Tb avocado oil, refined (plus more for greasing)
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp Himalayan salt
- 1/4 tsp each ground mace, ground cloves, ginger powder, dried sage, dried rosemary & dried thyme
- 1/4 cup cassava flour
Instructions
- Heat up your waffle iron to medium-high heat. (Link in NOTES to the ceramic iron I used.)
- Gently mix all ingredients (except extra oil for greasing) in medium bowl until well combined. (I like to use a meat chopper tool for this step…it helps save my fingernails from getting meat underneath.)
- Use a silicone brush to lightly grease the iron with a dab of oil.
- Depending on the size of your iron, add 1/2 to 1/3 cup of meat mixture at a time to iron, spreading it out evenly with a silicone spatula.
- Close iron, then cook about 7 minutes or until crisped and fully cooked through.
- For AIP: Serve with a drizzle of maple syrup if desired, or slather with a bit of No-Mess No-Egg Mayo (recipe in NOTES) and top with sliced raw veggies.
- For Whole30: Slather with 100% berry preserves, almond butter or sunflower butter, or top with mayo and lettuce for a quick compliant sandwich.

If you don’t have a waffle maker (such as myself), could these be made without one? This recipe looks delicious and I can’t wait to try it.

Hi there Diane, Yes you can totally make these without a waffle iron! You could shape them into thin, round sausage-shaped patties and fry them up in a skillet in some refined coconut oil over medium heat until they are crispy n both sides and cooked through in the middle. I hope you enjoy!
