Show Notes

Hey there, warrior! I’m Samantha Teague, Primal Health Coach. Before we dive in, I’m not a doctor, and this isn’t medical advice.

Today we’re talking about why that stubborn weight is clinging to you like a stage-five clinger – and spoiler alert: it’s NOT about eating less and moving more. That advice is so 1990’s. We’re way past that.

If you’re doing “all the things” and the scale still won’t budge, these three sneaky culprits might be sabotaging you behind the scenes. Let’s dive in.

Sneaky Thing 1: Your Circadian Rhythm is Totally Off

Okay, so here’s what’s happening. When your circadian rhythm – your body’s internal clock – is out of whack, your weight-related hormones go absolutely haywire.

Think of it like this: your body has a natural rhythm, like a symphony. When you eat late at night, you’re basically throwing a rock at the conductor. Your insulin sensitivity tanks, your cortisol stays elevated when it should be winding down, and your leptin – the hormone that tells you “hey, you’re full” – stops working properly.

Late-night eating confuses your body about when it’s supposed to be in fat-burning mode versus fat-storage mode. And guess which mode wins when you’re eating at 9 PM? Yep. Storage.

The fix? Stop eating at least two hours before bedtime. Even better? Try having your last meal around sunset or as close to it as possible. I know – that feels early. But your body is designed to digest food when the sun is up. When you align your eating window with natural light cycles, your hormones start cooperating again. It’s like magic, except it’s just biology doing what it’s supposed to do.

Sneaky Thing 2: You’re Going Too Low Carb

Now, before you come for me – I’m not saying carbs are the answer to everything. But here’s the deal: when you go too low carb for too long, especially if you’re a woman with thyroid issues or chronic illness, you’re actually stressing out your weight-related hormones.

Your thyroid needs carbohydrates to convert T4 to active T3 – the hormone that actually runs your metabolism. When you’re chronically low carb, your body thinks you’re in a famine. Cortisol goes up, thyroid function goes down, and your metabolism slows to a crawl. It’s like your body is saying, “Oh, we’re starving? Cool, let me hold onto every single calorie just in case.”

Plus, low carb can tank your leptin levels, which makes you hungrier and more likely to binge later.

The solution? Include a small to moderate portion of slow-burn ancestral carbs with fat and protein at every meal. We’re talking sweet potatoes, beets, carrots, winter squash – the good stuff our ancestors ate. These aren’t the processed carbs that spike your blood sugar. These are nutrient-dense, fiber-rich carbs that give your thyroid what it needs, stabilize your blood sugar, and keep your hormones happy.

Your body isn’t the enemy. Feed it what it actually needs.

Sneaky Thing 3: Toxins in Your Anti-Aging Skincare Are Messing With Your Weight Hormones

Okay, this one’s gonna blow your mind. You’re slathering on expensive anti-aging creams and serums, maybe even getting procedures done, thinking you’re treating yourself. But a lot of conventional skincare is loaded with endocrine-disrupting chemicals – parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances – that mess with your estrogen, thyroid, and cortisol.

These toxins get absorbed through your skin and go straight into your bloodstream, where they wreak havoc on your hormones. And guess what happens when your hormones are disrupted? Weight gain. Especially around your belly, hips, and thighs.

It’s like you’re trying to lose weight while simultaneously poisoning your hormone system. Not a winning strategy.

The solution? Opt for non-toxic topical products. Read your labels. If you can’t pronounce it, your body probably doesn’t want it.

And here’s something I’m personally loving – the Nira Pro non-fractional laser. This is a natural, at-home solution that actually works. I’ve been using it, and I’m reversing my marionette lines and under-eye bags without injecting anything into my face or exposing myself to harsh chemicals. It uses gentle technology to stimulate collagen production naturally – no toxins, no downtime, just results.

REVERSE THOSE HARD LINES WITH NIRA PRO

Here’s the bottom line, warrior:

Your body isn’t broken. It’s just responding to the signals you’re giving it – late-night eating, chronic low carb, toxic skincare. When you fix these sneaky saboteurs, your hormones start cooperating, and the weight finally starts coming off.

You don’t need more willpower. You need better information. And now you have it.

Start with one thing this week. Maybe it’s moving your last meal earlier. Maybe it’s adding a sweet potato to dinner. Maybe it’s swapping out that toxic face cream.

Your future self – the one who finally broke through that plateau and feels like herself again – she’s cheering you on.

You’ve got this, hun.
