Now, let’s talk about that frustrating weight loss plateau. Trust me, I’ve been there – measuring every morsel, sweating through workouts, and still nothing on that digital demon sitting on your bathroom floor.
But here’s the thing – what if I told you it’s not your fault? What if your body is actually doing exactly what it’s designed to do when it thinks it’s under attack?
That’s right. We need to talk about inflammation – the hidden fire keeping your body in full-on defense mode.
Picture your body as a smart fortress. When inflammation rises, your fortress raises the drawbridge. Your cells go, “Nope! We’re not letting go of resources because we’re under siege!” And just like that, fat-burning goes into hibernation.
Now, I know what you’re thinking – “But I’m eating clean! I’m exercising! What gives?!”
Well, here’s where things get interesting. Many of us are triggering inflammation in ways we don’t even realize:
First up – those intense workouts you’re killing yourself to complete? They might actually be working against you.
When exercise feels like punishment, your body produces cortisol – that stress hormone that signals danger and prompts your body to hold onto fat.
Instead, try gentler movement that supports your body. Think walks in nature, gentle yoga, or swimming. Movement that leaves you feeling energized rather than depleted.
Second – protein timing and quality matter more than you think.
Your body needs quality protein to reduce inflammation, but many of us are either not getting enough or eating the wrong kinds at the wrong times.
Focus on getting at least 30 grams within 30 minutes of waking up to set your metabolism right for the day. This simple shift has helped so many of my clients break through stubborn plateaus.
Third – your light exposure is either helping or hurting your inflammation levels.
Our bodies evolved with the sun’s natural rhythms, and disrupting that connection creates internal chaos.
Try this for one week: spend 3 minutes outside viewing the sunrise without sunglasses, and do the same at sunset. This simple practice – called photobiomodulation – helps regulate your hormone patterns, improves sleep quality, and in turn can help your body release stored fat.
And lastly, here’s my secret weapon for clients who need an extra boost: targeted peptides.
