This Animal-Based Granola makes the perfect Paleo or AIP, Grain-Free, Nut-Free, Seed-Free snack or breakfast!

Jump to Recipe

Have you been craving a nice bowl of cereal or something crunchy to go on top of your sheep’s milk yogurt on your Animal-Based diet? I’ve got ya, boo, with this crispy, very lightly sweet baked mix. It’s perfect for snacking on the go as a trail mix, perfect for batch cooking, and awesome as a quick morning meal with some A2 milk.

This oven-made mix is free of the nuts, seeds, grains, and refined sugar that can be found in traditional granolas and breakfast cereals. If you are on a Paleo diet or if you are currently following the elimination phase of the Autoimmune Protocol, all you have to do to keep this compliant is use the suggested tallow instead of the butter. You could also get away with using coconut oil instead.

Read on for the crunchy, munchy recipe!

No Nuts (or Seeds) About It

I’ve been finding myself eating very few nuts and seeds since learning about an animal-based diet. They are high in plant toxins like lectins, phytates, and even phytoestrogens that can trigger a host of negative effects in the body. You can learn a bit more about plant toxins in this post!

This conscious omission even includes processed seed oils, which are highly inflammatory (I’m looking at you, organic / non-GMO sunflower oil). So be aware when shopping for dried ingredients like the ones in this Animal-Based Granola, as seed oils are being added by so many food processing companies to keep manufacturing costs low.

Here are some ingredient brands that are free from refined sugars and seed oils (at the time of writing this post) that you can use for your AB granola:

I am new to your site and I am SO excited to try this! I really miss cereal, it was my go to bedtime snack. I miss crunchy things. I am especially excited to see how simple of a recipe this is, both in ingredients and the actual cooking part. Sometimes, substitute recipes are so complex that I don’t even bother. Off to look to see what other recipes you have.
